The Lagos State Government says it plans to redevelop Adeniji Adele Estate, phases one to four, which was built over 35 years ago, and now in a deplorable condition.
A statement on Wednesday by the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency said the government had concluded the plan to invite investors and consortium of developers to redevelop the entire 15.54 hectares of land for a decent multi-storeyed housing estate.
“The project site is situated in the Lagos Island Local Government Area, bounded by the Third Mainland Bridge to the North and Adeniji Adele Road to the South. It has geographic coordinates which lie between Latitude 60 27’22.6E and 60 27’34.56 North of the Equator and Longitude 30 23’ 38.52 and 30 23’ 58.6 East of the meridian,” the statement said in part.
The government explained that the housing estate accommodated 120 blocks of 720 flats made up of 90 family units of two-bedroomed flats and 630 family units of three-bedroomed flats.
The Manager, LASURA, Lateef Sholebo, said the estate would be redeveloped into residential, commercial and institutional precincts with open spaces for recreation.
“The Lagos State Government equity contribution to the redevelopment is the 15.54 hectares of land. The government will provide resettlement or alternative accommodation for the existing allottees of the housing estate. At least, 2,500 family units will be accommodated in the new project,” the statement added.
